Our story
The decision
We believe people should be free to practice their own beliefs — whatever those are — and we believe those beliefs should show up as physical action.
The problems around us are concrete: housing insecurity, food insecurity, isolation, environmental degradation, and barriers to community and property ownership. We decided to turn our values into work.
Who's welcome
People of different religions, spiritual traditions, and no religious tradition are welcome here. The closest philosophical tradition to our approach is Unitarian Universalism, but Practical Love is not formally affiliated with that organization.
The people
The property currently provides housing for people who have historically faced barriers to housing and belonging. They come from different backgrounds and circumstances, and their lives are theirs.
This isn't "we rescue people." This is: we are creating space where people can participate in community. No one's private medical, financial, or personal information will ever be shared here.
