Practical Love

FAQ

Honest answers, plainly.

If we don't know the answer yet, we'll say so.

Religion & inclusivity

Is Practical Love a church?

No. We're a humanitarian ministry with a spiritual emphasis. The closest philosophical tradition is Unitarian Universalism, but we're not formally affiliated with that organization.

Do I have to believe anything to participate?

No. People of different religions, spiritual traditions, and no religious tradition are welcome. We believe people should be free to practice their own beliefs.

Housing & residents

Who lives on the property?

The property currently provides housing for people who have historically faced barriers to housing and belonging. We don't identify residents or share private details — that's theirs.

How do people become residents?

That process is being developed. TBD

Ownership, investment, returns, risk

What is the eight-partner model?

A long-term concept: eight ownership partners — the founders among them, plus six more — each conceptually holding one-eighth. The final structure is TBD.

Is this an investment? Are there returns?

No. Nothing on this site is an offer to sell securities, and there are no guaranteed returns. Investment terms, valuation, and risk are TBD.

What are the risks?

Real estate and ownership carry real risk. We'll be straightforward about the specifics once the model is finalized. TBD

LLC, nonprofit, donations & tax

What is Urban Co-Living LLC?

The real estate component of the project. Its legal relationship to Practical Love and the future nonprofit is still being developed. TBD

Are donations tax-deductible?

Not yet. We intend to establish a 501(c)(3), and that status is currently TBD. We won't claim deductibility before it exists.

Property & environment

Will the property grow enough food for everyone?

That's the long-term goal: to grow enough food to help reduce the food costs of the people living there. It's a goal, not a promise of free or subsidized food.

What's the status of solar and rainwater?

Solar is installed. Rainwater catchment is in development.

Ministry & prayer

What does the ministry cost?

Services are offered by donation.

Can I submit a prayer request?

A prayer request page is coming soon. TBD

Volunteering, applications & partnerships

How can I volunteer?

Get Involved is being built — gardening, skills, and community help are on the way. TBD

How do I partner with you?

We'd love to talk. A contact path is being set up. TBD
